Clinical Psychologist or Psychological Associate position

The Dynamic Psychotherapy & Psychology Centre is a thriving group practice located in Kingston, Ontario. We provide psychological and psychotherapy services virtually to individuals across Ontario and in-person to those who reside in or near Kingston, Ontario. DPPC is looking for a Psychologist / Psychological Associate licensed for autonomous practice to join the team on a full-time or part-time basis either remotely or on a hybrid model. We are seeking Psychologists / Psychological Associates who are passionate about helping clients obtain deep and lasting change and skilled at treatment approaches that address emotions and relational patterns underlying problematic symptoms (e.g. psychodynamic, attachment-based, emotion focused therapy, and IFS) to join our team.

At DPPC, we are passionate about helping clients address their unconscious patterns, intrapsychic conflicts, and underlying emotional sources of their symptoms to facilitate meaningful and lasting change and reduction to their suffering. We take a client-centred approach based on well-established and evidence-based psychodynamic principles and emotion science with a focus on tailoring our services to meet the unique needs of each individual. 

This position is ideal for a psychologist or psychological associate who wants to be part of a community of collaborative and passionate clinicians, and be able to provide clinical services without having to deal with any of the administrative tasks, the need to seek referrals, or figure out how to set up any of the systems and processes necessary. Our team meets on a regular basis for case consultation so you never have to feel like you are practicing in isolation. We encourage continued professional development and provide a biweekly team consultation group meetings to learn from and support each other in our clinical work.

We welcome applicants who are registered to work across the age range (children, adolescents, adults, seniors).

While our office space is based out of Kingston, Ontario, and provides services to clients in person in Kingston, we offer online therapy options to clients across Ontario. For those interested in seeing clients in-person, we provide offices in our beautifully decorated space, with a waiting area, staff lunch room, and staff bathroom. All client records managing system and administrative assistance including client scheduling is provided.

Job details:

  • Clinical duties: Individual therapy and psychodiagnostic assessments. If there is interest for couples therapy, group therapy, or supervision, there are opportunities for this as well.

  • Job type and Hours: Part-time to full-time hours are available. We require a minimum of 12 client hours a week.

  • Term: One-year contract as an independent contractor. Contract may be renewed. The contract starts upon successful hiring.

  • Pay: We offer competitive pay. The exact rate is determined by your level of training and experience.

  • Schedule: You determine your own schedule.

  • Location: Hybrid model or remote. In-person services provided in our Kingston, Ontario, office, and virtual services via secure video telehealth for clients across Ontario.

Qualifications:

  • Only applicants with a current license with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO) as an autonomous member will be considered.

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Clinical / Counselling Psychology.

  • CPO Authorized area of practice: Clinical Psychology.

  • At least 1 year of post-graduate experience (including supervised practice) in providing psychological services using evidence-based approaches.

  • Good psychodiagnostic assessment skills.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date of best practices in the field of psychotherapy.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, ethical standards, and professional boundaries in all aspects of the job, as is required by ethical guidelines and applicable laws.

Assets:

  • Working knowledge of various therapeutic modalities such as psychodynamic therapies, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), IFS, EMDR, attachment-theory, and interpersonal/relational framework.

  • Experience using online practice management software (i.e. Owl Practice, Jane App).

  • Ability and experience providing psychotherapy services using video-based online software.

  • Experience working with veterans or Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), members of the Canadian Armed Forces, or WSIB.
