Professional Training
Often clinicians can become overwhelmed, exhausted, and burnt out from wanting the best for their clients and trying to keep up with their clients’ wide variety of presenting problems and symptoms.
If you find the tool belt interventions approach insufficient and you are interested in learning a more comprehensive framework within which to conceptualize your client problems and personalities to inform your interventions, you may be interested in supervision, training, or consultation with our supervisors.
Who is this supervision and consultation available to:
We offer supervision, consultation, and training to psychology and psychotherapy students, psychiatry residents, clinicians seeking supervision for supervised or qualifying practice, and licensed clinicians who are looking for training in a psychodynamic framework that aims to understand the person as a whole.
What you can expect to learn:
Our supervision is based on the ISTDP metapsychology and psychodynamic theory. The ISTDP metapsychology offers a comprehensive understanding of functioning and psychopathology based on over a century of evolving research into the human mind. In addition to learning the metapsychology and developing dynamic case conceptualization skills, we aim to help you learn to work in the transference, work with countertransference issues, and work experientially with your clients to engage in processing underlying internal issues that can bring about significant and lasting change.
Our approach to training:
We take a developmental approach to supervision or consultation. We work with you to determine your learning trajectory to ensure that supervision or consultation matches your needs. We might work completely within an ISTDP framework, or a broader psychodynamic framework, or we might incorporate psychodynamic principles into your preferred therapeutic modality depending on your training needs and interests.
