Couples Therapy
In-Person and Virtual options are available
Approach
As humans, we all need connection and attachment to both survive and thrive. Our partners are usually the primary people from whom we seek this connection. When these important relationships fail, our mental and emotional health can take a toll. The difficulty is that we are often unaware of the patterns that drive disconnection.
At DPPC, we can help you address the dynamics within your relationship that perpetuate the dissatisfaction and rupture in the way that you relate with each other to promote open communication and improved empathic connection. We can identify and address the unhelpful relational patterns so that you can work towards your common goals.
A relational framework to couples therapy can help you heal through your relationships and make meaningful connections.
What to expect
• The initial couples therapy appointment could be 1 hour 45 minutes long (with 15 minutes reserved for documentation and case management) to 1 hour long depending on your clinician. We will discuss your relationship difficulties and goals for couples therapy, and begin to explore your internal processes and patterns related to your problems to collaboratively develop a treatment plan. We will spend some time in the latter portion of the meeting to review your relevant history.
• Follow-up sessions are between 1 hour 45 minutes (with 15 minutes for documentation and case management) to 50 minutes long (with 10 minutes reserved for documentation and case management) depending on each couple’s needs.
• Although the frequency of sessions is typically once a week, this may vary depending on your needs and our agreed upon treatment plan.
