Tina Leknois, M.A.

Registered Psychotherapist

Tina Leknois is a psychotherapist who has been registered with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario since 2016. She completed her undergraduate studies at Wilfrid Laurier University and obtained her Master’s degree in counselling psychology from Yorkville University. Tina provides individual psychotherapy and couples therapy to adults. She also supervises practicum students.

During her years practicing psychotherapy Tina has worked with individuals and couples, always by taking a person-centred approach and working collaboratively with her clients to achieve positive outcomes. She has training and experience in various treatment modalities including cognitive, behavioural, solution-focused and relational strategies. However, she predominantly uses psychodynamic psychotherapy, specifically ISTDP, an evidence-based treatment that addresses underlying emotional conflicts to achieve long-term therapeutic gains. Tina is passionate about helping her clients address their specific internal dynamics that get in their way of experiencing success in implementing healthy behaviours and being the best version of themselves.

Tina has worked with individuals seeking assistance with depression, anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship issues, interpersonal difficulties, grief, and life transitions. Tina has a special interest in supporting mothers suffering from postpartum depression as they transition to a new role in their life. She is well versed in helping new mothers address the attachment and dynamic conflicts that can be part of postpartum struggles.

Tina also provides couples therapy. She uses a relational therapy framework to help couples address their interpersonal dynamics within their relationship that keep them stuck.

For placement or practicum students interested in seeking training opportunities at DPPC, Tina provides clinical supervision to students in psychodynamic psychotherapy.

Tina is a lifelong learner and is passionate about obtaining ongoing continued education. As such, she engages in regular consultation and trainings to continue to specialize in working with her clients in an emotion-focused and psychodynamic manner from an ISTDP framework.

Tina is a member of the International Experiential Dynamic Therapy Association (IEDTA) and Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) .
