Ryan Dinsmore, M.Ed.

Registered Psychotherapist, Co-Founder/Director

Ryan Dinsmore is a Registered Psychotherapist regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and he holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto. He has worked with a wide range of issues and people in private practice, community, and university settings.

Ryan’s approach to therapy is based largely in the psychology of human attachment, emotion, behaviour, and psychodynamic theory. While Ryan has training in a number of therapy models, he has received extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy

Ryan completed a 3-year post-graduate core training in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) with Dr. Allan Abbass and Dr. Joel Town. Additionally, he engaged in 3 years of individual consultation in ISTDP with Dr. Town while working at Dr. Town’s ISTDP clinic in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He has also completed a training program in psychoanalytic theory with the Tavistock Relationships Clinic in London, UK.

As part of Ryan’s focus on lifelong professional development, he routinely meets for individual ISTDP case consultation with Dr. Allan Abbass, and is also continuing his ISTDP training with Jon Frederickson’s advanced training group.

Ryan is a co-founder and faculty member of ISTDP Ontario. He is member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy (CAPT), the International Experiential Dynamic Therapy Association (IEDTA), and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
