Kavita Brijpaul is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario. She is also a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She holds a Master of Arts in counselling psychology from Yorkville University with a focus on addictions and trauma. 

Kavita employs an empathetic, person-centered therapeutic approach which fosters a safe and nonjudgmental space for her clients to explore their thoughts, emotions and behaviours. She ensures the therapeutic journey is collaborative and draws on a wealth of evidence-based practices to tailor treatment plans to the unique needs of each individual. 

Kavita started her career in concurrent mental health and addictions counselling, working in various inpatient rehabilitation centers. During this time she used Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to help client’s improve emotional regulation, identify and overcome maladaptive thinking patterns, and restructure negative core beliefs.

Kavita has a passion for working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma and is committed to providing care that helps clients to achieve their goals and enacts lasting, impactful change. Kavita currently receives supervision from Tina Leknois, Registered Psychotherapist, to take a psychodynamic frame in her work and interventions to help her clients foster a deeper understanding and awareness of self while building on their strength and resiliency.
